In the presence of Kiambu County Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa in the studios, MP Manduku noted that the Odinga-led ODM Party wants Mbadi at the Interior Ministry.

“Yes, we have fronted a name, Junet Mohamed. We have just fronted the name, but it is up to the president to decide,” the MP said during the talk show.

He added that Prof. Kindiki must have resigned officially from the Ministry he held for two years and preparations must be done on how and who will take over.

However, he clarified that it is the prerogative of the head of State to finally make a decision who deserves to replace Kindiki based on both competence and history.

“The position is vacant, resignation is a private affair, he probably wrote a resignation to the president. The resignation doesn’t have to be made public,” the MP claimed.

During his latest tour in Nyanza Region in the homecoming ceremony of Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, Junet, while addressing the audience in the presence of President William Ruto, urged him to put him under consideration should any vacant position fall in his government.

This statement made in jest tickled the head of State and what pundits would opine that he was in a complete agreement with what had been asked from him.

Outgoing Interior CS Kithure Kindiki

On Friday, October 18, the National Assembly approved Ruto’s decision to nominate Kithure Kindiki as the next Deputy President of Kenya following Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.

This was after 236 MPs voted in favor of allowing Kindiki to take up the Deputy President post. The Senate would also approve the decision.
