Sonko sent to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison

Wednesday February 3, 2021 -Nairobi ex-Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was dramatically sent to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison. Details emerge.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday February 3, Lawyer Khaminwa of Khaminwa & Khaminwa Advocates revealed how his client had been transferred to the Kamiti jail despite the court orders reading he should be taken to Gigiri Police Station.

He added that there was no official explanation given so far for the crude decision made by police contrary to the court orders in their possession.

Khaminwa’s fellow learned friend Assa Nyakundi reported that it was true Sonko was at Kamiti and could still be charged with terrorism related charges with claims that he has been recruiting a militia group with intentions of causing trouble in Nairobi.

“I am told he is already at Kamiti waiting a possible arrangement. We are informed police have sworn an affidavit seeking to hold him for 30 days over terrorism-related charges,” said lawyer Nyakundi as reported by the Star.

Sonko who has been rubbing shoulders with the Presidency since he was ejected from City Hall will be back tomorrow at Kiambu Law Courts for a mention where he is facing five serious counts of robbery with violence.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti rejected prayers from the governor who had requested to be taken to Muthaiga Police where he said he would be safe because someone the other night attempted to inject him with poison.

Ogoti on his part however, asked investigating officers to make sure Mr. Sonko is safe at Gigiri but interestingly he was quicklyt hurled into a police van and taken to the Kamiti Prison where he will spent his night.

Witnesses have since said Mr. Sonko is currently under the Anti-terrorism Police Unit.
