Ruto Warns Department Heads Over Digitisation

Chrispen

Several government departments are yet to comply with President William Ruto’s directive of boarding the digital payment platforms introduced months ago by the new regime.

In his statement today during the First Anniversary of eCitizen Directorate held at KICC, President Ruto pointed out that there are some characters in government who still have not heeded to his instructions of moving away from old payment system to digital.

Some of the companies named by the President include the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and the country’s electricity distributor, Kenya Power Company (KPLC).

The President has since revealed that the 34 agencies were yet to comply with his Presidential directive on on-boarding key services they offer on the eCitizen digital platform.

”These entities are yet to comply with my directive of onboarding government services in their departments on the platform,’’ Ruto stated.

The head of State, therefore, added the agencies only seven days to comply with the directive or face consequences which he said among them could be prosecution or immediate replacement.
