Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence following disruptive incident that took place today in Limuru, Kiambu County.
In a statement to the newsroom, the embattled politician pointed an accusing finger at the Government saying it was complicit in the attack that saw his convoy pelted with stones, seats and all manner of objects bringing the funeral event to a halt.
“This is very sad state of affairs and a major low for the state, who were clearly complicit in these actions. We just especially remember the family that had a loved one in a casket, who had to run to safety despite their profound grief,” stated Gachagua.
He reminded his supporters that, earlier this week, all his security was withdrawn with an aim of targeting his life and that despite the move, he remained quiet hoping that they will leave it at that.
“As Kenyans are well aware earlier this week the government withdrew the final aspects of my security that was in place after the impeachment process we are contesting. However we did not raise issue with this decision by government although expectations were that any Kenyan,” added Gachagua.
He, however, noted that efforts to silence him will not bear fruits and that his eyes are now focused on the next general election when he will make a major decision on where Mt Kenya will vote.
