Senator Edwin Sifuna now says he will not support President William Ruto’s reelection just because he supported Raila Odinga in the recent Africa Union Commission election.
Sifuna noted that President Ruto is only supporting Raila because he knows Kenyans love him(Raila) and wants to politically gain from this in 2027.
“How can you re-elect Ruto to spite and punish the ‘mama mbogas’? Ruto is supporting Raila because he knows Kenyans love him. I will not vote for Ruto in 2027 even if Raila tells us to do so,” Sifuna remarked on Citizen Tv breakfast show hosted by Trevor Ombija.
The vocal ODM lawmaker said President Ruto, as a president, can only be re-elected on the basis of his work and service delivery and now on the false basis of Raila supporting him.
“If you tell me I need to re-elect Ruto because he gave baba a lift from the hotel to the election hall, there must be something very wrong with you.
“We cannot also vote for Ruto to punish anyone. That cannot be common sense. That is absolute absurdity. I want to tell William Ruto that the reason he will be re-elected is because of his work,” Senator Sifuna stated firmly.
He added that President Ruto seized the whole AUC shenanigans to blackmail Raila’s supporters with false hopes so that to shift their loyalty to his camp ahead of next general election.
