Saturday, February 27, 2021 –Raila Odinga and Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi have been friends for a long time since the Moi era. It has emerged.

There is an untold story about these two gentlemen but in 1991 when Raila was so vibrant and had altercations with Moi’s regime, Mukhisa reportedly played a major role in making sure he is safe.

First, the drama became intense, when the American Embassy tipped Mr. Odinga of a plot by Moi regime to finish him majorly because he was fighting the government during the One Party System.

Sources also claim that the same US informed Raila that the Moi’s government had learnt how he(Odinga) was not afraid of arrests and, as result, the government had one option left – to plan an assassination if he survived bodily torture. Raila was a hard nut to crack!

At that point, Odinga tried to talk to the US Embassy to accord him special protection but they were cagey. He couldn’t spent nights at his home. Not even days. One day police came at home but missed him by an inch. He had just left a minute ago to Orengo’s offices which were next to him. Anyang Nyong’o, Mukhisa Kituyi and James Orengo then advised Raila to jump underground but he refused consciously due to his high sense of danger.

By that time, Mr. Kituyi was in activism – he and Mr.Otieno Kajwang were expelled from the University of Nairobi for radicalizing students – That a side, Mukhisa quickly volunteered to house Raila for one week.

Reports claim that Mukhisa drove Odinga to his home when reports went viral that armed police had raided Raila’s Kileleleshwa home where they only found his wife Ida who completely refused to open doors.

In a State televised interview a weak later, President Moi went wild warning anyone who wanted to introduce multiparty in the country. He affirmed that Kenya was a one party State and his government will not tolerate anyone going against that.

Endangered, Raila moved from Mukhisa’ home to the US Embassy. Kituyi’s wife Liq was tasked to work on Raila’s looks to that no one could notice him along the way. She also gave Odinga sunglasses to help him go past police roadblocks unnoticed.  It was hectic. Mukhisa then took Raila to the US Embassy where the Embassy declined to keep him citing inter-nations relations. They only fed him necessary intelligence information.

So being a quick thinker, the former UNCTAD Secretary General is said to have quickly drove Odinga to Nyong’o’s home where a group of Catholic priests picked up from there. They volunteered to transport Raila to Rang’ala Mission in Nyanza and quickly moved him to Uganda through a boat on L. Victoria on a rainy night. From there he would then fly to Norway for Exile. The mission was complete.
