Thursday, March 4, 2021 –Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala allegedly lost a whopping sh 2 million in Matungu’s chaotic voting exercise.
In a video which we have seen do rounds on social and mainstream media, the legislator can be seen being roughed up by some men as he struggles to save a black bag which he claimed was full of cash. The bag unfortunately was already emptied by the time he was saving it.
In that short time, he can be heard ranting that an officer called Mureithi had aided in stealing the cash.
“This is my money. Where is Mureithi? Why are you stealing from me? I want my sh 2 million,” Malala is head complaining as locals from a far end scold him for being among top bribers in the Matungu polls.
According to Senator Malala’s remarks, a high ranking officer had taken away his money.
The ANC Senator earlier on Thursday, was involved in a scuffle with Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga at Bulimbo Tallying Centre. The Senator accused Wanga of staging a bribing spree so that ODM’s David Were could win.
Both Matungu and Kabuchai by-election were marred by chaotic scenes, bribery and intimidation. Nakuru was not spared too.
