Monday, March 8, 2021 -The meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has continued to elicit mixed reactions across the country.
President Kenyatta on Sunday March 7 met with Kabogo at his Iguta Paradise Homes located along Kiambu Road in Nairobi.
Photos of the pair emerged online fueling a debate among political commentators and Kenyans as well.
Though details still remain scanty, sources rumoured that Uhuru would visit Kabogo anytime there is political heat in the country. That Kabogo was part of the 2013 regions heavyweights who pushed Uhuru through to the presidency and that this is another time Uhuru must find him handy.
“They have been friends for a very long time and sometimes friends meet to talk about all manner of stuff. There is no official report because sometimes Kenyans must accept the fact that the President also has friends, who he can consult with,” an insider confirmed.
Kabogo, according to political pundits, is among the few key Mt. Kenya leaders who could be positioning to take over from Uhuru.
His influence, popularity, availability and immense wealth makes him the best ready man from their Mt. Kenya Region to succeed Mr. Kenyatta.
He is part of the Mt. Kenya Leaders Caucus who are busy strategizing on how the country should be structured after Uhuru exits the stage.
“People want to believe that we do not have a successor….The only difference is that we are not politicising it because it is now time for President Uhuru to do his work. We are only strategizing,” Kabogo was quoted.
Moreover, Uhuru and Kabogo are both in real estate business and some pundits claim their Sunday discussion could also have centered around that.
The two friends donned matching casual outfits with caps though the former Governor decided to do white shirts, a pair of jeans and boots.
