Thursday March 11, 2021 -Senator James Aggrey Orengo has responded to claims doing rounds on social media that former Premier Raila Odinga could soon join forces with William Ruto for their 2022 stab.
Reacting on Oburu Oginga’s wild sentiments that Raila and Ruto will be working together because anything in politics was possible, Orengo has now said such hopes were only possible in mind but not practical at any given time.
The Siaya County Senator said the ideologies between Raila and the Deputy President are worlds apart especially when it comes to governing a country and fighting corruption.
He urged Kenyans to ignore whatever Oburu was saying because, within ODM structures, there were no such plans now or later.
Speaking this yesterday Wednesday March 10, Lawyer Orengo added that shall Raila want to work with anyone, it should be a clean person devoid of pending court cases on graft.
According to Mr. Orengo, Raila working with Ruto is same as saying Donald Trump could still work with Hillary Clinton who was his main challanger in the 2016 White House race.
“It is a game of politics and nothing is impossible. But I think in terms of the basic issues like the BBI, things to do with corruption, things to do with inclusivity and abiding by the rule of law; those basic principles…If we had seen some semblance on the part of the deputy president then one would think about it but looking at the whole thing I don’t see any principles that can get us together,” stated Orengo.
Just a few days ago, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also downplayed Oburu’s sentiments which he termed personal and which must treated as such by their supporters.
