Saturday, March 20, 2021 -Deputy President William Ruto has made drastic changes in his United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
Through a Gazette Notice released on Friday March 19, UDA Party leadership indicated its desire to bring on board fresh blood following a resounding defeat they experienced in several past by-elections.
The party has replaced Secretary General Mohamed A Sahal with Nduati Veronicah Waheti as other additional posts created to make the party reach far and wide. For instance, Secretary for International Affairs is now handed to Hussein Adan Somo while Kamau Edward Muriu will become the Secretary for Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations.
Our sources divulged that the party is also planning to switch offices from Transnational Plaza to Sifa Towers in Kilimani, Nairobi.
“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political parties shall within seven (7) days from the date of this publication, deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties,” the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu stated.
It was in January when the Registrar of political Parties confirmed that UDA had changed name from the Party of Development and Reform PDR.
Since its dramatic inception, the Ruto-linked party has participated in quite a number of by-elections most which they have lost. It however boasts of wining in Msambweni which was a good show and in Nakuru’s London Ward.
