Sunday, March 21, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party has settled on the embattled Eng. Parvel Oimeke as their flagbearer in the upcoming Bonchari Parliamentary by-election.

The party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna announced this development saying the ODM Party Committee had made the decision after widely consulting other stakeholders.

He added that their National Elections Board NEB had already issued Oimeke with a certificate in that regard and urged other two interested aspirants to support their decision for the best interest of the Orange Party.

“Eng. Robert Parvel Oimeke was today officially given the nod to fly our flag in the May 18 Bonchari Parl by-election. He was issued with the nomination cert by NEB chairperson Catherine Mumma at a ceremony witnessed by SG @edwinsifuna, ED @ongwen & NEB Commissioners,” ODM wrote.

The other candidate were former Kisii Environment and Water CEC Mr. John Momanyi and businessman David Ogega.

Oimeke was a director at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA before he was linked to fraud and later dragged to court.

Eng. Robert Parvel Oimeke, according to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), was accused of demanding Sh200,000 to approve the reopening of a petrol station in Oyugis that had been shut down over tax evasion.

The accused who is now out for a cash bail of sh 200,000 has officially announced his interest into politics full time with ODM being the first party to take him.
