Wednesday, March 24, 2021 -Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has finally been shown the door by ODM Party which had donated a slot for him in the Senate.

Malala who has been serving as the ODM Party Deputy Minority leader to James Orengo was offered the opportunity following his consistent support to Raila Odinga. Of late, however, he had appeared to have completely change by switching layalty back to the Musalia Mudavadi-led-Amani National Congress ANC Party.

His removal on Wednesday March 12 was informed through an ODM Parliamentary Group meeting which was held in the morning. Minutes of the meeting indicated that 28 senators attended.

Mr. Malala was immediately replaced by Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo who was set to be confirmed by Speaker Kenneth Lusaka.

According to other media sources, whereas the grounds for his ouster were not made public either by the convener of the committee Siaya Senator James Orengo or his partners, the Kakamega Senator is accused of gross misconduct and disrespect to the ODM Party which donated to him the seat.

Precisely, this move has been attributed to what he did in the just concluded Matungu by-election where he openly campaigned for Peter Oscar Nabulindo who won on ANC ticket.

It is not the first time ODM are removing a NASA affiliate member from top parliamentary position, it is still on record that they also replaced Senator Wetang’ula with Orengo after they learnt that  former was not keen to their demands.
