Wednesday, March 31, 2021 -Paul Koinange, MP Kiambaa Constituency, has succumbed to Covid-19.
The MP who was at the center of illegalizing the Hustler Tag in the country, was reported dead today Wednesday March 31 while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Sources have confirmed that the late Paul Koinange is related to both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Citizen Tv news anchor Jeff Koinage.
During his service at the National Assembly, the late was the Chairperson Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security.
“The cruel hand of death has robbed us of a steadfast leader. A leader and gentleman whose undivided focus was the peace, stability, and progress of our country,” said President Uhuru Kenyatta in his early morning eulogy.
He also termed the diseased as a keen supporter of the country’s peace agenda through the Administration and National Security Committee he chaired.
“Through the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security where he was the Chairperson, Hon Koinange advanced legislation and policy interventions that sought to create a peaceful, stable and tranquil nation,” noted Uhuru in his condolence message.
On his part, Deputy President William Ruto described the late as an illustrious and visionary figure who worked for the people of Kiambaa with diligence.
“Honourable Paul Koinange was a dependable, illustrious and visionary figure who worked for the people of Kiambaa Constituency with diligence. He was a progressive and selfless politician whose exceptional servant leadership will be missed,” Ruto stated.
Former Premier Raila Odinga, on his part, stated that Kiambaa people had lost a dependable leader whose undivided focus was unity.
“The people of Kiambaa have lost in Paul Koinange, a diligent and dependable leader whose undivided focus was the unity, stability and progress of the country. He served with distinction as the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security,” mourned Raila Odinga.
Also on the list of leaders who mourned the late is Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who stated that the death was a big blow to the nation.
Koinange will be remembered for drafting a bill that was purely meant to curb politicians from creating divisive, dangerous and class war ahead of 2022 political contest.
