Saturday, May 1, 2021 -Bars and restaurants will operate till 7 PM. President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued new Covid 19 orders.
Today’s directives which were announced during the marking of Labour Day will see bar owners operate mostly during the day and shut down a few minutes to 7PM.
President Kenyatta who was speaking this at Statehouse announced that bars should from today operate within the new guidelines or face consequences. However, this will see at least those bars which had been adversely affected by the pandemic resume service.
Further, hotels, eateries and organised restaurants where food is served will be operating till curfew but strictly within stipulated Covid-19 protocols. This means social distancing will be key.
In the same speech, Uhuru directed that schools should resume operations as from May 10 as per the Ministry of Education opening plans.
Further, government has allowed churches to reopen worship centers with only a third capacity; where as political gatherings were still banned until further notice.
Sports will also be resuming but after intensive planning from both the Ministry of Sports and Health.
“But if we are not able to contain the disease because of our selfishness, then we shall revert and protect life. We shall be forced to protect life and the economy. If we work together as Kenyans we will be able to continue life as normally as possible,” Uhuru added.
Movements across counties has resumed normalcy.
