Thursday, May 6, 2021 -MP Otiende Amollo has hit back at his Minority leader in Parliament John Mbadi terming his claims as complete ‘nonsense’.
Dismissing allegations by Mr. Mbadi that he was de-whipped from Justice Legal and Affairs Committee JLAC for abusing Party leader Raila Odinga, Otiende said his communication with his party leader is always private and significant.
The eloquent lawmaker who on Thursday May 6 appeared on Days Break show noted that he always communicates with Mr. Odinga through texts and this is on several issues and therefore that couldn’t warrant his ouster.
“I communicate and I communicated with my party leader on many things even yesterday and on Sunday. The day my party leader talks of any specific text is the day I will need to answer but how any third party can begin talking about communication between me and my party leader who is my client I do not understand,” said Amollo.
According to Citizen Tv, Amollo told them that his last message with Odinga was for the two to meet but they were yet to meet because of Covid.-19 challanges.
“There were many SMSs. Infact the last SMS we shared with my party leader we agreed to meet. We are yet to meet because my party leader is still recuperating. So all this speculation that ‘I was texted, that I was called for a meeting and refused is all nonsense.” Added Amollo.
Mbadi has been on record accusing MP Amollo of disrespecting party leader through sending insulting texts to him what Amollo has challenged Mbadi to make public.
“And certainly if it (text message) was the issue then it would have been the issue when John Mbadi moved the motion,” he responded.
The lawyer who also worked as an ombudsoman, went on to mention some ODM Party individuals for using the BBI for other reasons other than what it was meant for.
“On our side there are also people who are now focused only on the BBI and handshake and benefits they get in these circumstances of cooperation and have lost sight of our goal in terms of Raila Odinga becoming president,” he said.
Asked what his feeling was after he was disrespectfully removed from his Committee position, Amollo charged that nothing would change on his part because he stood for the truth and he will continue speaking that which he thinks has legal standing and iwth time he will be vindicated.
