Thursday, May 20, 2021 -A section of politicians who led a fruitless campaign in Juja Constituency and around Mt. Kenya in the just ended replacement elections now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to punish the Ministry of Interior officials.
According to reports reaching Homenews.co.ke on Thursday May 20, those who had promised Uhuru a resounding victory after they had received funding for that purpose are now trying to fight hard to save their relationship with the President who is reportedly not happy with the outcome of the entire exercise.
The region being his stronghold, it was highly expected that his party Jubilee will win all the seats; but unfortunately, none was won.
While reading a riot act to them on Wednesday May 19, Mr. Kenyatta did not want to hear anything defensive and asked them to vacate the Statehouse precincts. The head of State also took issue with both Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and Vice Chairman David Murathe for their dismal performances.
“He chased everyone away at State House. He told everyone to go home arguing that they were not telling him anything substantive. He said that going by the losses in the by-elections, they were not doing their homework,” the report said.
Our sources and according to the Standard Digital issue of May 20, the politicians have now turned heat against civil servants who while acting on express orders from Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his PS Karanja Kibicho, used excessive force in the by-elections hence a counterproductive reaction from the voters.
In Rurii Ward, Ruto’s UDA Party through their candidate Francis Muraya beat Jubilee’s Peter Thinji; same to Gaturi ward where Moses Kuria’s Peoples’ Empowerment PEP Party candidate beat them hands down.
Further, in Juja Constituency, PEP candidate Mr. George Koimburi managed to garner 12,159 votes against Jubilee’s Susan, who followed him with only 5,746 votes.
