Wednesday, June 23, 2021 -A young Prison officer has shot self at Nairobi’s Industrial Area prison Station. Details have emerged.
Dundapost.com reported that the young officer shot himself dead at night while manning the facility from the watch tower.
According to the staff at Industrial Area, they heard loud blasts of gunshots and thought the facility was under attack only to turn out that the warder had shot self in the head.
The publication further quoted sources at Industrial Area claiming the late had exhibited signs of depression for the past few days but, unfortunately, no one could arrest the situation early.
It is yet to be established whether this had anything to do with his marital life but the investigation has since commenced.
Oflate, there have been confirmed increased cases of suicide within security departments in the country.
Last April for example, Constable Hadson Mkondo Wakise who was attached to VIP protection at the Ministry of Interior, shot dead his wife Pauline Wakasa, a traffic officer attached to Nairobi’s Kilimani Police Station before turning the gun to himself.
