Friday, June 25, 2021 -The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC has continued to deflate the Raila Odinga-Uhuru BBI project as it rules out any possibility to create an extra 70 new constituencies.
Chairman Wafula Chebukati has said they do not have enough time as well as resources to run the proposed delimitation exercise as demanded in the BBI.
“Due to the complexity of the delimitation process as well as the fact that the commission will be conducting a General Election in 2022, our position is that the final year by which the review of electoral boundaries should have been completed is March 2023,” Chebukati said.
This declaration from the electoral commission may be another big blow for Raila and Uhuru who are already fighting hard to resuscitate the BBI at the Appellate Court after the High Court recently declared it unconstitutional.
Further, this turn of events, according to political pundits, has helped boost Ruto’s political lifespan since everything seems to be favouring him always.
