Sunday, July 18, 2021 -Opposition leader Raila Odinga has explained how he will revive the economic standards of this nation once he takes office.
In along post he made on both Facebook and Twitter on Sunday July 18, the former premier highlighted the need to start manufacturing electronics in the country. He also said the only way this could be realised is trough taking youths for trainings in China and Europe.
“My dear Kenyans. When did you last see a product with a label MADE IN KENYA? I have some ideas on how we can have many MADE IN KENYA products in supermarket shelves and shops in a sustained manner that ensures home grown industrialization,” he wrote.
Manufacturing on phones, computers and other electronics would make every youth – either learned or not – to have something to do for his or her family.
“Developed nations like Japan, Canada, Germany, Korea have taken their youths to this competition to showcase skills beginning with basics as technicians, tailors, cooks, hairdressers, artisans, craftsmen,” he said.
He said this will create a more sustainable economy with youths operating machines just like in China and other European nations.
“We need to convince our people that academic papers are good and our children still need them. But we need to appreciate that societies that have placed equal emphasis on both knowledge and skills have done better,” partly read the post.
Raila said it was wrong that in this country government had done so little to recognize the potential with home production.
