Friday, July 30, 2021 -Sharing of Political parties cash has continued to stir in-fights within the National Super Alliance NASA as members protest about what they are being given by thier big brother ODM.
Latest to protest is former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who is the party leader Chama cha Mashinani CCM. Addressing Journalist on Thursday July 29, Ruto said it lacked logic for his party to be given only sh 3 million out of all the millions. He added that even though his joining NASA was not attached to monetary benefits, it was still wrong to be treated as weaker sex.
He charged that any sharing of the loot must be done fairly so that all the parties can feel their worth.
“There ought to be a fair formula in which political funding can be shared. I am even surprised that we are talking of the funding just a year to the 2022 General Election,” he said.
He also want ODM Party leadership to explain why they had to withhold the money for all that time when in normal arrangements this cash ought to be shared annually for the parties to grow.
“Political funding ought to be given on a regular and fair basis and not just an arrangement where one says which party gets what,” he added.
This is happening just days after ODM Party leadership finally bowed to pressure to share the cash amongst NASA affiliates. ODM received a lion’s share of a cool sh 336 million while the Wiper Party of Kalonzo Musyoka received sh 70 million, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC got sh 43.9 million as Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya parted with sh 36 million.
ODM however still maintained that they had to do that out of their mercies since any money they had received from the registrar was not attributable to any presidential vote.
