Tuesday, August 3, 2021 -Deputy Presidents tour to Uganda was deliberately blocked after government detected some fishy activities during his many tours outside the country
The second in command was forced to go back to his Karen home after government officials in the immigration department demanded him to clear with them first. This kept him for hours at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA.
Monday evening reports which hit headlines indicated that Ruto was taken in rounds by his juniors in government who demanded some documentation to approve his flight out.
Fresh details however indicate that this might have been a berate plan, after the government, which has been keenly watching his every step reportedly detected suspicious activities about the trips.
Sources told The Star on Tuesday August 3 that Ruto has been bringing in lots of money from outside, apparently for his 2022 campaigns, this being the reason why he is now being closely monitored.
“He went to Uganda and later Zanzibar where we suspect he brought in lots of money. But let it be an issue of another day for now,” a source in the government spoke to the Star.
Ruto’s humiliation at the airport came barely a month after he again visited Uganda, where he met the nation’s president Yoweri Museveni, who he seems to be very close to nowadays.
Efforts to get a clear picture from the Ministry of Interior bore no fruits as Spokesman Cyrus Oguna only termed the happenings as strange to him.
“I have no information regarding this. I have just heard of it from you. You may need to contact the Immigration boss Alexander Muteshi,” said Oguna.
Ruto whose team had already been cleared away to Uganda, would later take to his Twitter with a cryptic rant showing how frustrated he was.
