Government Cancels Raila’s Homa Bay Rally

Friday, August 6, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party was stopped from holding a public rally which had been scheduled to take place in Kassipul Constituency, Homa Bay County on Thursday August 5.

Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe directly phoned Minority Whip Junet Mohamed urging him to stop any plans for the rally citing increased rate of Covid-19 infections around Nyanza and Western part of the country.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed flainked by colleagues from ODM Party.

“He told us the situation was not good. I was also called by the Inspector General of Police who urged me to stop the gatherings,” Junet told KTN News.

Reports have it that Mr. Odinga was supposed to meet his supporters ahead of his Western Region tour. He was expected to meet with party delegates before holding similar meetings across the country.

“We will also move to Mt Kenya region where we will flatten the political mountain with a bulldozer that will usher in a new political tsunami, which will sweep across the country in the next election,” Raila stated previously.

In the same address, Odinga said there was nothing stopping them from taking over from Mr. Kenyatta in 2022 because all factors are now favouring his ODM Party.

“Our journey to State House is like the journey of the Israelites when they were coming from Egypt heading to Canaan. We still know where we are despite the journey being far,” he added.

Upto now, a sizeable number of Jubilee-allied MPs have started embracing a Raila leadership and are already marketing him in their region.

Speaking in Murang’a in a weekend youth event which was presided over by former Prime Minister Odinga, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe advised the region to support Odinga saying they are more safe in the hands of Raila more than Ruto whom he described as a ‘dangerous character’.
