Sunday, August 8, 2021 -Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has send signals of returning to his Kieleweke camp ahead of 2022 elections.
Addressing at ACK Church in Murang’a today Sunday August 8, Mr. Kang’ata refuted claims that he has been so disrespectful to the President who is also their party leader. He clarified that what he has been exercising has been his democratic right and not what some individuals want to think of him.
Kang’ata added that he is among the few politicians from Central Kenya who hold high esteem for the head of State Uhuru Kenyatta and that disrespecting him will be the least thing on his plan sheet.
“Those of us who support the deputy president have been accused of disrespecting the president. That is not true, our whole team should not be criminalized for the mistake of one person. Everybody should bear his own burden.
“For those who feel like I have been disrespecting the president, kindly watch me in the remaining days before the next polls. I will respect him even more to prove you wrong. However, the president should let us choose the next president freely without intimidation. He is not a candidate in 2022,” added the senator.
Kang’ata is among William Ruto’s foot soldiers from the Mt Kenya Region who ditched the Kieleweke camp promising to support Ruto to the ballot. He would go to the extend of risking his plum Senate job for supporting Ruto.
He also appeared to be on the front-line supporting UDA Party in the latest by-elections held in Mt. Kenya Region; which some they won.
More rumours have it that Gatundu MP Moses Kuria, on the other hand, has refused to fold his Peoples Empowerment Party PEP for Ruto’s UDA. Among the reasons he has listed is not being sure about their safety in UDA Party.
