Monday, August 16, 2021 -Police involved in the killing of Kianjokoma brothers are now being hunted down by authorities after the office of the Director of Public Prosecution ODPP ordered for their immediate arrest.

In a lengthy report released by the DPP on Monday afternoon, the six accused who reportedly murdered brothers Emmanuel Mutura and Benson Njiiru have to be arrested to face related murder charges.

In the statement from the DPP’s office, Mr. Noordin Haji confirmed receiving a preliminary report which was conducted by the National Police Service NPS and Internal Affairs Unit from the Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai incriminating the six.

“Based on the Preliminary Investigation Report forwarded by the Inspector General (IG), I am shortly directing the IG to immediately arrest and arraign in court, in Nairobi, all officers involved pending investigations by IPOA to avoid any interference with evidence and or intimidation of witnesses,” said Haji.

He also ordered to receive all the results from other investigating agencies by end of the day(Monday) so that quick action could commence against the officers.

Haji’s harsh reaction is coming at the time IPOA also recommended that murder charges be leveled against the six police officers who were involved in the crime.

“That the officers be relieved of their duties immediately pending the outcome of an independent review of the findings that will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions. As it stands now, the six officers face a capital offence – murder. This recommendation is not likely to take a different direction,” said IPOA chairperson Anne Makori.

Upto now, reports indicate that all involved officers from the station are already serving their suspension to create room for proper and thorough probe into their actions.

The two victims – Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura – died 14 days ago after they were allegedly arrested by the suspects. Since then tension has remained high in the area with local leadership calling for an immediate action against the officers.

Benson and Emmanuel have since been laid to rest.
