Sunday, August 22, 2021 -Jubilee Party has revealed that it will not be going to the Supreme Court to overturn the Court of Appeal verdict on their Building Bridges Initiative BBI.
Revealing this to the Nation, Secretary General Raphael Tuju said it would be a complete waste of time going to court for the same reason. He added that they would rather choose to embark on planning for the forthcoming 2022 race.
He made it clear that they will, as a party, respect the court’s decision rather than continue engaging in unnecessary fights that my consume most of their time. He reasoned that unlike the judges, Jubilee was apolitical party which must plan for its survival in the next government.
“The court has spoken, and we have to respect the judgment. It is unlikely we will spend time trying to address any grievances. We will move on,” Tuju stated.
Tuju also added weight on Raila Odinga’s sentiments that they will not embark on appealing for further rulings on BBI.
“As we have stated, we shall engage only to the extent that circumstances require. But we feel we have to move on,” the ODM boss stated.
But even as he was saying this, Government Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto reported that the office o f the Attorney General was considering walking to the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling which they believe had so many loose ends.
“I think the political process will continue with the politicians dealing with politics. We are of the strong view that we should go to the Supreme Court,” Ogeto stated.
Last Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision by the High Court which had found the BBI document not only faulty but also illegal in nature.
