Thursday, June 8, 2023 – Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts Hon. Ababu Namwamba and Tik Tok sensation-cum-radio host Azziad Nasenya have been trending the better part of Thursday June 8 afternoon.
This is because the two appeared in public rocking same make, colour and brand of rubber expensive shoes; what triggered a public debate on why it could have happened.
Those who had a privilege to see the viral photos wondered whether this was by coincidence or design.
“Azziad Namwamba wearing the same shoes should not be a big deal. Maybe they bought them from the same shop. It’s common sense that Hon. Ababu Namwamba wears a bigger shoe than Azziad Nasenya,” Alinur Mohamed made this comment on seeing the duo in same design shoes.
Another active user by the name Joe, wondered how this duo reached this stage very fast just days after Namwamba offered Azziad a job in his Talanta Hela artistes initiative.
“Ababu Namwamba wamefika stage ya kushare viatu na Azziad!!,” Only Joe noted.
On his part, notable figure on Twitter going by his moniker, Omwamba, had a view that, perhaps, the two – Ababu and Nasenya – could have bought their trendy sports shoes from same shop but again wondered why at the same time.
“I don’t see any problem with Ababu Namwamba matching shoes with Azziad,” Omwamba quipped as Mistress said:
“Ababu Namwamba matching shoes wasn’t necessary, you don’t have to show the taxpayer that you are using their money to seduce and consume”.
Others like Kajana wa Baba said, the CS for Sports and Culture recently procured the shoes from Dubai and urged the rest of the country not to read much from it.
CS Ababu recently offered plum State jobs to a number of popular local artiste to the creative sector with his Talanta Hela initiative meant to help content creators monetise content.
Ababu established the Creatives Technical Committee through a gazette notice dated February 10, 2023, of which Azziad is a member.
“I sincerely thank honourable Ababu Namwamba and the entire Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts team for nominating me to be part of the Creatives Technical Committee,”
“I am a firm believer in the potential of the creative economy as a fulfilling career and source of income, and beneficiary of the same,” Azziad said after her appointment.
The committee will be chaired by Comedian Daniel Ndambuki popularly known as Churchill and will serve for a period of three years.
Other members of the committee include; Akinyi Odongo, Jimmi Gathu, Esther ‘Akothee’ Akoth, Kizito Makhande, Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, Awadhi Salim Awadhi, Douglas Kipkirui, and Langat Susan Ekasiba.
