Accept and Move on – Khalwale to CASs

Tuesday, July 4, 2023 –Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged his colleagues in Kenya Kwanza administration not to push hard for creation of Chief Administrative Secretaries CASs positions.

In a post he revived on his social media pages on Tuesday July 4, through a newspaper cutting, the Kakamega Senator noted that the rule of law remains paramount and it would be a good idea to respect the courts on the matter.

He noted that fighting the courts on such an issue was going to leave the government with a bad face amid calls for democracy and Constitutionalism.

“It is not about the affected CASs but the rule of law and I want to appeal to my UDA Party as such. We were happy when the courts ruled against BBI. We were happy again when the courts ruled in favour of our presidential candidate.

“Let’s look at all these as a rule of law and it is not impossible for us to find a role in government for the 50 loyal members of our party,” he noted.

Khalwale’s response comes barely a day after his counterpart from Nandi, Samson Cherargei, blasted the three judges for ruling against the State.

Cherargei described courts as a crime scene and judges as ‘gone rogue’ promising to lead the CASs back to court to appeal the outcome.

Judges sitting in Nairobi, yesterday Monday July 3, established that Ruto’s 50 CASs were appointed irregularly without public participation.

This verdict didn’t augur well with a section of UDA politician’s and those who had been appointed in various ministries as CASs.

Court session in progress

For instance, former Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has said the ruling didn’t come as a surprise since one judge dissented meaning there was division.

Isaac Mwaura mentioned that the matter will be reviewed in the Court of Appeal as Dennis Itumbi added that it was not yet over.
