ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has directed Bungoma Bishop George Mechumo to immediately return the KSh. 5 million donation from President William Ruto.
Sapit directed that the Bishop returns the cash to the owners just days after area governor Ken Lusaka, on behalf of the president, handed over the cash to the church.
Lusaka was heard pleading with the church not to return the money; what the bishop assured he will not.
“I hope you will not return this and if you have such plans, kindly give it to me I know where to take it,” he stated.
However, later on, Ole Sapit emerged with a statement that the money was meant to ridicule the church of Anglican and that he will not accept the donation whose source is not very clear.
And addressing in Mombasa on Tuesday, President William Ruto took issue with Kenyans among them church leaders whom he described as ‘possessed with the spirit of rejection’.
Dr. Ruto stated that it is sad citizens are rejecting every of his proposal including tithes to the God.
NCCK has continued piling pressure on Kenyans to reject donations from unverified sources, as it condemns the culture of celebrating the corruption.
