Chrispen

Thursday, February 8, 2024 -Attorney General Justin Muturi has openly differed with government’s position on the controversial housing project.

In a rare show of honest when he appeared before the Parliamentary committees of both finance-budget and housing, J. Muturi shocked the members when he confessed that the whole exercise was shrouded in darkness and that, it could face tumultuous legal headwinds for a longer times.

Speaking during the committee meeting held on Wednesday, Justin indicated that, though, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah had claimed that counties don’t have to be consulted or involved in the exercise, this was not proper as the discussion ought to see both houses – Parliament and the Senate take part.

“I have seen what the Majority Leader presented here. I don’t think that counties can be excluded in the whole exercise. The Senate should be involved and, if they don’t agree, then this discussion can be forwarded back to the committee for mediation,” he further noted.

And reacting on the same, Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna wondered why Justin Muturi was distancing himself from the government position when, infact, he is the official chief advisor for the government.

“You appoint an Attorney General but never consult him on legal matters. This is why every regime project runs into legal headwinds.

“You have a know it all in-charge. For stating the correct legal position on this housing scam, for even speaking out, I salute you Justin Muturi,” commented Sifuna.

Though, the exercise has since been thrown into limbo by the courts, President William Ruto has vowed to push on with it by accusing a section of people in the opposition of fighting his good plans for the country.

He has, not once, reported that the project will not only give youths jobs but also improve the living standards of many families.
