Saturday, August 13, 2022 –Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has been beaten in election that just ended on August 9.
In that view, Gideon Mungaro is the new governor of Kilifi. He defeated Ms Jumwa with 143,773 votes against 65,893 votes which she garnered in the high stake exercise.
Immediately after this result was announced, the ex-Malindi MP threatened to go to court to seek redress saying she had been rigged out by those who don’t want to see her political star continue to shine.
“I won’t accept, no way, this is unfair, I must protest the win in court,Mungaro is not someone who can defeat me,” Aisha said amid silence from her supporters.
Homenews.co.ke also learnt that since the announcement of Mungaro’s victory by the Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission IEBC, thousands of locals have poured on the streets in celebrations of the victory.
“This is a very beautiful day(Saturday August 13) and we can now rest assured that the noisy former lawmaker will no longer continue bragging every day before men she should be respecting,” an elated voter said.
Mungaro’s supporters have therefore advised Jumwa to accept the defeat which they argued was competitively free and fair.
Jumwa who was elected on an ODM Party ticket in 2017 decamped to the William Ruto’s UDA Party which she used to vie in the Tuesday August 9 polls.
