Monday, May 8, 2023 –Vocal Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly MCA Robert Alai has cautioned the country against rushing to fund raise for anyone asking for help.
Speaking this on Monday May 8 in reference to former Ogopa Djs rapper Daudi Mustafa aka Colonel Mustafa, Alai indicated that the artist’s case is not so different from Omosh of Tahidi High who was helped in both kind and cash and still never picked up his life.
MCA Alai claimed that, after millions of monies were raised for the former Tahidi High actor, he still came back asking for more after squandering the funds on drinking and entertainment.
In his cleverly-worded statement seen by this writer, blogger-turned-politician said that, it helps for those willing to support such cases to first asses the root cause and deal with the reasons leading to the condition and not to rush into quick fixes. This, he said, will help the suffering individuals better theirlives.
“Don’t throw money at every problem. Sit down and review why Col Moustapha is where he is. How many times have you guys given Omosh money and even a house? Has that been the solution? What’s happening with Col? Money becomes a catalyst for destruction when the root cause hasn’t been revised well,” Alai argued in his noon tweet.
He was raising his concerns after it emerged that so far, Kenyans with goodwill had already raised a whopping sh 600,000 plus for the former Ogopa star.
“We are at Sh600,000. Those trying to send cash and failing should try after midnight as he (Mustafa) has surpassed his daily limit. A pay bill will be up by Monday I am speechless!!” Fauz Khalid who is leading the public online fundraiser said.
This took place after Colonel Mustafa’s video leaked online showing him at a construction site in Dohnholm Nairobi.
“There is something I was doing I can’t talk a lot about it, but ni shughuli nimekuwa nikifanya for the past year.
“But sasa kuna msee tu hapo I think alifanya hivo (leak the video) so I didn’t even know usiku ndio nilipata information vile nimerudi,” he said in his latest interview.
Mustafa claimed that his mother who is ailing Cancer needs expensive medication and, therefore, it is has not been easy for him alone to meet the related expenses since his music career flopped at the height of the Corona pandemic.
In an interview with Eve Mungai days ago, he noted that he would like to get any kind of employment or capital to help him pick up his life’s pieces against.
