Monday, May 9, 2022 –Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader also Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has joined Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.
Making the announcement on Monday May 9, the party leader stated that he had tried to engage with Mr. Odinga so that to iron out the outstanding issues but seems he was not being taken serious.
Mutua argued that Azimio was running its affairs in an obscure manner with most of its top leadership not ready to engage partners on an equal ground.
“We have decided to break our ties with Azimio la Umoja. Therefore the contract between Azimio and MCC is null and void.
“We cannot continue to be in a country of a few millionaires. Kenyans want jobs, more money, and the right leadership. I am aware that five other parties are about to leave due to its exclusiveness and zoning terms,” he announced.
He clarified that starting today he will be traversing the country with Deputy President William Ruto, Musalia Mudeavadi and Moses Wetang’ula with an aim of liberating the country from the chains of capitalists.
“I will campaign for William Ruto. He is a good man and I believe he will make a change as he becomes the next leader of this country,” Mutua added.
Mutua also revealed that he had reached an agreement with Ruto that there will be no zoning and that every party will be free to field aspirants as they wish.
He observed that Raila’s Azimio was reneging on the spirit of their agreement with affiliate parties by turning around the clauses in the agreement to suppress smaller parties.
Mutua’s withdrawal from Azimio-One Kenya alliance is coming at the time his colleague, Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni also warned Odinga that he was not comfortable with the way things were being run in the coalition.
Another Governor who is also on his way out is Kilifi’s Amason Kingi who has also threatened to join Ruto very soon.
