Saturday, February 19, 2022 –The country is mourning the death of Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Wilfred Machage.
Confirming the death on Friday February 19, his family led by his brother Sospeter Machage said the former Migori County senator died at the age of 65; but did not speak much on the cause of his death.
Sospeter added that the late passed on after his Friday February 19 lunch despite having been in sound health.
“It is a very sad moment that I have today lost my best friend and confidant,” he told the Standard.
Background check shows that the late Machage was first elected to Parliament as Kuria Constituency MP in 2002 when Kibaki was first taking power as President. He would then end up serving for three terms.
The former Cabinet Minister for East African Community Affairs and Assistant Minster Home Affairs would then be elected as Migori County senator between 2013 and 2017.
The veteran decided to quit active politics in 2020 when President Uhuru Kenyatta considered him for the diplomat post.
