Thursday, June 22, 2023 –Tik Tok sensation and social media personality Azziad Nasenya angrily walked out of an interview with Mwende Macharia of Radio Maisha after being asked about her alleged firing from Talanta Hela Council.

In a report by Ghafla Kenya, the incident, captured on a TikTok live stream from the radio station, sparked a heated debate about the boundaries of journalistic inquiry and personal privacy.

Nonetheless, many users threw their support behind Mwende for asking that question since it falls within public interest parameters.

According to Ghafla story published on Thursday June 22, the interview began with Mwende asking Azziad about her recent success on social media. Azziad was happy to discuss her work and her plans for the future. However, the interview took an unexpected turn when Mwende broached the topic of her alleged firing from Talanta Hela Council.

Azziad was visibly upset by the question and immediately expressed her displeasure. She said that she had not agreed to discuss this topic and that she felt blindsided by Mwende’s line of questioning. She then marched out of the studios, stating that she would not continue the interview.

Mwende defended her line of questioning, emphasizing her role as a journalist. She argued that asking about the controversial firing was crucial for the interview to make sense and provide relevant information to the audience. She also said that she had been given permission to ask about the topic by Azziad’s manager.
