Sunday, July 24, 2022 –Angry Deputy President William Ruto has gone on tirade against the State for arresting the three Venezuelans at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA.
Addressing supporters at Kapkatet Grounds in Kericho on Sunday July 24 afternoon, a visibly angry Ruto took a swipe at his boss Uhuru Kenyatta for using the DCI office to scuttle election preparedness in the country.
He appeared to lament that DCI boss George Kinoti was being used to fight his camp by interfering with IEBC’s plans to preside over the August 9 elections.
Ruto pointed out the recent arrest done at the JKIA where three foreigners were arrested carrying the election materials saying this was a plot by the State to derail the August polls.
“The guy called Kinoti should stop his stupidity over the recent political stunts. There’s nothing that he has done in his docket aside from political theatrics. He runs to publish cases in newspapers and drafts long letters on social media platforms. Kindly, spare us the time and leave matters to IEBC. You have no business in IEBC. You have failed as the DCI, we do not want you to fail our elections,” Ruto breathed fire.
He then directly warned Kinoti that should he not stop the theatrics of taking orders from Statehouse, any mess during elections will squarely be blamed on him.
“He was given the mandate to conduct investigations to which he has failed. So stop the theatrics and give IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati space to conduct elections. Wait for August 9 so that you can go home,” he ranted.
Ruto was saying this barely a day after the office of the DCI unearthed the identity of the Venezuelans who had smuggled elections material into the country.
