Friday, January 15, 2021 -News reaching this desk indicate that Nairobi By-election will not be taking place after Anne Kananu Mwenda took Deputy Governor’s oath today.
Just after she was vetted and seemingly passed the vetting stage conducted by MCAs on Friday January 15th, Anne was unveiled as the next city deputy boss.
“I thank President Kenyatta for showing his faith in me to serve in this position. I affirm my commitment to serve Nairobians with dedication…I commit to cooperate closely with NMS DG Maj. Gen. Badi and the Nairobi County Assembly,” she said.
This has left in shambles all the cases the embattled ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko had filed stopping the by-election which was slated to take place in February 2021.
Further, with Anne now in office, she will mandated to take over all Governor’s role what now means there will be no gubernatorial by-election in Nairobi County.
