Plans to swear her in have been scheduled tomorrow Tuesday November 16 in a tightly secured ceremony to be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center KICC COMESA Grounds from 10AM.
“Pursuant to sections 14 and 16 (1) (b) of the Assumption of the Office of Governor Act, 2019, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 74 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, it is notified for information of the general public that the swearing-in ceremony of Ms. Ann Kananu Mwenda, as the Governor of Nairobi City County, shall take place on Tuesday 16th November 2021 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre COMESA Grounds, starting from 10.00 a.m,” the swearing in notice read.
This move which started in court after the former governor Mike Sonko was impeached has dragged on for long but court finally managed to give the process a green light sealing the fate of Mr. Sonko who nopw has to plan a fresh come back in 2022.
Ex-governor Sonko attempted to block the process through the court but the fight seemed heavy for him and ended up losing.
The flashy politician lost the seat in 2020 after Senators voted him out through an impeachment motion which had been presented to the House by Nairobi Members of County Assembly MCAs.
The Assembly accused Sonko of high handedness, lack of integrity, misuse of power, and run away graft.
