Thursday, January 28, 2021 -An open letter addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta indicates a total of 41 MPs will not be selling Raila Odinga in Mt. Kenya.

Though out of the 41, some members have come out to distance themselves from the letter as not being authentic saying their signatures had been forged.

In the letter, the Mt Kenya Tangatanga-allied-MPs seem to be pushing hard so that the region remains locked for only William Ruto.

“For 8 years, between 2011 and 2018, you consistently and persistently cautioned us that Raila Odinga was Kenya’s foremost problem, and pleaded with us to send him home for the country to move forward,” they wrote.

They further added that it was not their fault to reject Mr. Odinga because that was part of the Uhuru Kenyatta’s main agenda when he was looking for power in 2013 and 2017.

“You blame the leaders & people of the Mt. Kenya region for being reluctant to accept the Handshake & the BBI…the successful efforts you made to persuade the people to render Raila Odinga unacceptable in Mt. Kenya cannot be undone in your lifetime,” partly read the said letter.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition figure Raila Odinga.

They then turned to the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party boss Raila Odinga blaming him for having his hand in the down fall of their Jubilee Party.

“We cannot sell Raila Odinga in our region or, indeed, any other imposed presidential candidate,” reads the letter.

They instead asked Mr. Kenyatta to use the remaining little time in office to develop their region which they claim has remained behind than all other regions.

In the letter, the team also asked the government to cease from harassing those with divergence issues saying, for democracy to prevail, there must be accommodation of everybody.
