Saturday, April 8, 2023 -President William Ruto’s Chief Economic Advisor David Ndii, has today hinted at another Handshake between the opposition and the government.
On Saturday, April 8, Mr. Ndii predicted that the head of State could sooner join hands with Mr. Odinga to stabilise the economy.
In a barrage of social media tweets, the economist, now serving in the capacity of chairman Presidential Council of Economic Advisors, argued that, if Handshake could save the country, then “why should Ruto reject it?”
That the current regime is grappling with unstable economy what worries the head of State more than anything else.
“I have news for you. The first obligation of a government is survival and political stability. The more the dynasties foment destabilisation, the more we will have to spend on political capital,” Ndii stated.
Ndii who ditched Raila for Ruto in the days heading to the last general election, was responding to a concerned citizen who sought to know what next following the ailing economy which cannot see civil servants paid their dues in time.
“If push comes to shove, handshake is always an option. How much do you think that will cost?” Ndii responded.
And weighing on the recent controversial appointment of the 50 chief administrative secretaries CASs, Ndii argued that, that should not worry anyone as it does not constitute a significant part of the national wage bill.
Raila and President William Ruto, recently, made a step towards each other by agreeing to start bipartisan talks through their elected Members of Parliament MPs.
Already, the two sides have come up with seven representatives to run the talks that could see some of the Odinga’s concerns addressed, amiably.
This is happening despite protest from the Deputy President Rigathi Gachgua and a few politicians from Central Region who are not comfortable with Odinga close to power.
