Sunday, February 20, 2022 –Opposition leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have today agreed to start structured talks on a possible merger ahead of next elections.
In their Sunday February 20 closed door meeting held in Mombasa Town, Kalonzo and Raila met briefly before each heading for seperate rallies around Mombasa.
The two opposition politicians met for a breakfast meeting in a hotel and held discussions that centered on a possible ‘big final’ merger.
“We met with Odinga this morning. We had earlier planned to hold our rally at the Tononoka grounds but they had booked the venue earlier,” Kalonzo stated.
In the meeting was also KANU Party Chairman Gideon Moi who confirmed that One Kenya Alliance OKA had agreed to continue with talks with other like-minded coalitions.
Raila-Kalonzo meeting dispelled current suspicions that there has been bitter blood between Raila Odinga and Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Everybody knows the story of me and Raila that runs for 10 political years. We win and loser at the same time. We are talking to them but I can tell you that even those talks have not fully begun,” Kalonzo stated afew days ago.
The Wiper Democratic Party leader, however, confirmed that he was holding talks with the Jubilee Party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, on forming a possible strong coalition that can win elections within round one.
