Friday, February 19, 2021 – Just a day after meeting with two presidential hopefuls in Nairobi, it has emerged that Odinga has also procured four brand new helicopters.
The two developments are a strong indication that the Orange Democratic Movement Party leader could take his fifth stab at the presidency.
Plans to get the choppers in the country from France are over and even the payments already completed.
According to the Standard, the four choppers were allegedly paid for last week pending delivery into the country. Their assembling will be conducted in Nairobi.
Sources have also disclosed that the ODM boss yesterday Thursday February 18 received a multimillion Public Address system from the US where he had, in January, send one of his aides to look for one. The sound system is one of its kind.
An MP who knows much about this story yesterday downplayed the rumour but confirmed that what Odinga was doing was normal for anyone who was preparing to capture power and therefore it should not be a big deal for his supporters.
“The party has in the past pronounced itself on its plans for 2022. These are normal preparations.
“We expect the choppers to be shipped soon before they can be assembled locally,” the MP said
While reacting on the same, Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party chairman John Mbadi said campaign preparations were in top gear and that this is nolonger a secrete.
“The point is that ODM is preparing for 2022. As to the level of preparations or whether we are procuring choppers, we cannot reveal for now,” Mbadi said when asked.
Odinga will definitely be facing off with Ruto in what many say will be a two horse race just like the past two general elections.
