Monday, October 30, 2023 –Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has broken his silence hours after a contingent of general Service Unit GSU police condoned his office from any access today morning.
Addressing outside Gusii Stadium today afternoon, an angry Arati urged the national government to stop intimidating him for political reasons.
He has described the today’s happenings as quite unfortunate and occurring after he held a successful boda boda meeting in the county and what he claims government is not happy with that progress and his ever-rising popularity and firm grip to the Gusii community.
“I could not run away from it. I had the information earlier. The police were here all the way from the gate. I came straight to them so that they can tell me what they were doing in this compound.
“This is sheer nonsense. Misuse of police to intimidate me. There is no reason completely. Since last week there has been Recce squad roaming around since the day we launched the Boda boda SACCO,” he divulged adding that about six thousand persons gathered for the event that turned a great success.
Governor Arati went on to claim that certain elements in government are hellbent on satisfying their ego by arresting him for days.
He also welcomed any attempt to raid his homes but urged the organisers to send the police during the day not at night so that he can take them through every corner of his home.
“I will take them round my home upto the toilet if they so want,” he quipped.
The county boss wondered how the police had converted peaceful spots in the region as a crime scenes. He seized the opportunity to call upon the Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki to obey law and stop misusing the police to fight political wars for some top offices.
Arati said the dark days are, unfortunately, back where some powerful forces want him to forcefully shift loyalty from Azimio la Umoja to the ruling side; terming this as retrogressive efforts that will not stop him from governing the county under his coalition.
Arati woke up in total confusion today Monday October 30 when he found an army of police officers in full combat surrounding his offices located at the Gusii Stadium, for hours.
