A source who called our desk confirmed that the students were headed to Nairobi when their car got involved in the bloody collision.

Though well-wishers would rush to the scene to try rescue the students, this was a case of ‘too late too little’.

By good luck, seven other learners who had boarded the PSV escaped death narrowly and were rushed to Naivasha County Hospital for medical attention.

Photos and videos sent to our desk showed a sorry state of affairs at the scene as school bags, personal belongings and other stationery were left strewed all over the place.

Police had also started arriving at the scene to help control the escalating situation as well as traffic snarl-up.

In a statement from the Kenya Red Cross, the accident occurred at 1:55PM when the PSV matatu from SWAT Sacco collided with a transit trailer and lost control before colliding with a lorry.

Five victims were taken to Naivasha Sub-county Mortuary, while the injured seven were rushed to different hospitals.
