Atwoli De-campaigns Sakaja in Nairobi

Thursday, April 28, 2022 –Central Organization of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has made a sharp about-turn on Senator Johnson Sakaja.

Atwoli, who was last year on record praising the young Nairobi senator as a person full of integrity and  with a bright future in leadership, today made a sharp u-turn saying the senator was a perfect example of a betrayer who is headed to failing.

He insinuated that Sakaja, just like ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi, had been paid to mislead Luhya community living in Nairobi and the country at large.

He therefore urged every Luhya in the city not to fall prey of Sakaja’s theatrics because he was acting on behalf of Deputy President William Ruto to bring down the once respected community in the country.

Atwoli who was addressing COTU shop stewards today Thursday April 28 added that he would not out-rightly claim that Azimio’s choice of Igathe was the best fit for the position but warned that Sakaja was too dangerous than all the candidates vying in Nairobi.

The COTU boss argued that Sakaja, the once very intelligent politician, had already been ruined by certain known masters whose agenda was to defile his career and therefore cannot be trusted again with Nairobi leadership.

“When he went to the other side, he intermingled with bad people and is no longer the young man I had grown fond of. Now he walks around with thieves.

“I am pleading with you, even if you do not want to vote for Igathe, kindly do not give Sakaja your vote.  Please, let me speak to the Mulembe nation, do not allow him to convince you to support his bid. Don’t!” Atwoli went on.

Defending the Igathe candidature, Atwoli told the audience that this was part of the 2022 great political strategy which will yield a lot for Azimio coalition.

“I see them going round in Nairobi, saying that Luhyas are being organized. They want to instill fear in you so that you vote for them. Be very watchful. At times we need to pick a team that will win the election,” he noted.

The fierce trade unionist, therefore, promised to support Azimio camp so that to be able to beat the William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza both in Nairobi and around the country.

Sakaja has since unveiled his less known running mate, James Njoroge Muchiri, with whom they will be running on UDA Party ticket.
