Saturday, March 18, 2023 –Central Organization of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has asked workers across the country to report on duty on Monday March 20 despite the protests.

On Saturday March 18, the trade unionist asked all workers in the country to remain safe on job and refrain from engaging in activities that could jeopardize their employment.

“As the umbrella body for workers, we wish to remind workers to secure their jobs by reporting to their workstations.

“We urge workers to refrain from participating in any activities that may jeopardise their employment status,” noted Benson Okwaro – deputy secretary general.

Okwaro noted that opposition leader Raila Odinga and President Ruto have now to sit together and agree on the way forward so that to calm the rising temperatures around the country saying the situation is not healthy for a struggling economy.

“We appeal to both parties to engage in active dialogue and find a long-lasting solution that will promote economic development in the country,” Okwaro also stated.

Since the day William Ruto won power, both COTU boss, Francis Atwoli and his deputy switched camps and joined the government.

Mr. Atwoli would defend the move saying he has a constituent to take care of through the government of the day.

He has since been meeting and attending most of President William Ruto’s development and political functions.
