Auditor General Nancy Gathungu has further exposed another scandal about the Hustler Fund where billions cannot be accounted for.
Apart from SHA scandal which had since been known to have gobbled billions of taxes, the AG has revealed that the Hustler Fund project was another mega scandal committed by Kenya Kwanza administration in its two years of office.
Back to SHA, both Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Treasury CS John Mbadi have agreed that the program has issues but argued that going back to NHIF cannot be a solution.
Now my question as a Kenyan is, why would Government wait for us to first raise an alarm on SHA for it to act? This means it was going to keep quiet despite having knowledge that SHA was another flop.
Too much mistakes in two years of administration does not really look good for this Government.
What is it going to tell us after its first term that has been marred by disastrous rookie mistakes?
Too many missteps doesn’t really look good for any government. It exposes it’s incompetence.
And this is worsened by the fact that former Attorney General Justin Muturi, in his statement today, shared how he tried to advise the government but it couldn’t listen.
Muturi has told the Nation Media newspaper how he tried to stop the State from using Safaricom Consortium to run SHA but he was ignored. No one wanted to take his advice.
Because of laws, we know changing a government right now cannot be that easier but Kenyans could comfortably do it in 2027 if this trend continues.
