Azimio-Allied Politicians Lose Seats in Bungoma

Thursday, August 11, 2022 –A seasoned Bungoma politician who ditched Ford Kenya for their Democratic Action DAP-Kenya Party has lost election.

MP Wafula Wamunyinyi of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya lost his Kanduyi parliamentary seat, which he had held for two consecutive terms.

In an update from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC, MP Wamuyinyi was defeated by Ford Kenya’s John Makali who is brother to journalist David Makali.

Makali scored 32,099 while MP Wamunyinyi garnered a whopping 20,240 votes; as the third candidate from Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party Mr Alfred Khangati got 12,970 votes.

Wamunyinyi first came into Parliament in the year 2013 through Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya Party where he was until this year when he decided to join forces with allies to forma splinter DAP-Kenya Party where he is the party leader.

Also casualty in this election is Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu of DAP-Kenya who was beaten by Ford Kenya’s John Chikati.

Ford Kenya’s Kenneth Lusaka also won Bungoma gubernatorial seat after beating Wycliffe Wangamati.
