Monday, September 19, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition has come to the defense of the four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC commissioners.
The coalition on Sunday September 18 fired a warning at the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance to stop intimidating and threatening to fire the four commissioners who played part in disowning the highly contested presidential results of August 9.
Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya and Irene Masit’s jobs could be hanging in balance after Farmers Party which is in Kenya Kwanza, petitioned the Parliament to sack the four from office.
Mr. Musyoka who was issuing the caution in his Nairobi press briefing added that Ruto and his camp will not be allowed to victimize anyone over the just-ended elections.
“We totally condemn this brazen act of witch-hunt and demand that the President and his agents, leave those officers alone. On our part we commit to do whatever it takes to protect those officers from any attempts to infringe their basic rights,” firmly said Mr. Kalonzo.
Ms Cherera and her team were accused by William Ruto’s team of being Azimio’s proxies in the electoral body IEBC.
President Ruto’s allies now say the commission can nolonger be trusted by the public unless the four are haunted out.
