Tuesday, July 18, 2023 -Anxiety and confusion have gripped the nation ahead a three-day faceoff of the opposition and the ruling regime.
Today Tuesday July 18, the country woke upon on mixed reactions as the hour ticks toward the clashes dubbed Maandamano announced by the Azimio la Umoja bigwigs, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua.
The three, together with Roots Party leader Prof George Luchiri Wajackoyah, promised to stage a three-day long demonstrations against the William Ruto’s government.
Despite warnings from both the head of State and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Azimio leaders have remained firm that the demonstrations must go on as planned since it’s Constitutional.
For instance, Raila, through his social media handles regarded the said protests as a game-changer; saying, this will force the government to listen and lower the cost of living.
“Starting on Wednesday, be ready for the game-changing Maandamano,” Defiant Odinga announced.
Even as he was saying this, his friend also Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo disclosed that a suspicious lorry was being cleared at Busia Border to bring into the country materials believed to be weapons to harm innocent lives from tomorrow.
“Why Would Ugandan Armed Forces Escort this Trailer, Suspected To Be Ferrying Arms, Per A Whistle Blower, And Hand Over To Kenyan GSU? Why would they Refuse Scanning and processing? Why claim It was empty yet not? Is someone plotting bloodshed?” he posed.
Kisii Senator Onyonka, also an ODM Party-elected politician, gave both Raila and William Ruto a 24-hour timeline to solve their differences. He argued that the two leaders have the key to save or break the country.
“Mr. Raila and Ruto should realize they have 24 hours to save or break Kenya,” Senator Richard Onyonka said on Citizen Tv today.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has, not once, warned Azimio la Umoja politicians against what he described as ‘monkey business’ from Wednesday.
