Saturday, September 2, 2023 –Azimio la Umoja One Kenya has, in a sharp turn of events, recognised President William Ruto as the duly elected President of Kenya.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has, today Saturday September 2, announced that Ruto had displayed high-level statesmanship and maturity by throwing his weight behind the ongoing Bomas of Kenya truce talks between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza.
Mr. Musyoka noted that, by Ruto deciding to ignore his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua who has constantly undermined the talks, he has proven his full commitment to see the government-opposition dialogue prosper and yield good results.
“We congratulate the president William Ruto for putting his foot down and supporting the Bipartisan discussion at the Bomas of Kenya,”Kalonzo said.
He lauded the head of State for the stately gesture to support the course that will see the country end into a democracy that is worthy emulation by other establishments.
For that reason alone, the bipartisan dialogue team co-chairman said nothing will stop Azimio from recognising him(Ruto) as the duly elected head of State and that, perhaps, as Azimio, they will wait to fight for the seat another day.
“And because of his firm stand, we recognise him and we will have to wait for the next time and who knows? God’s plan may be with us next,” he stated further.
Since last general election of 2022, Azimio leaders Raila Odinga and Martha Karua have been rallying their troops to not recognise William Ruto’s presidency which they claim was rigged.
Raila and Karua, therefore, only refers to the UDA Party leader by the title of ‘Mr. Ruto’ throughout their press statements.
The Wiper Party leader who is also a co-principal in Azimio la Umoja formation was making the remarks in the burial service of Wiper Party nominated MCA Constance Mwandawiro held in Vo, Taita Taveta County.
